My mother is seventy-three and her EPF statements were in a plastic bag in a drawer. When I brought them to the audit, it turned out three statements from the early 2000s were completely missing and one replacement office had changed its name. The audit sheet listed all of it clearly β€” which we had, which we needed, and exactly where to apply for the missing ones. It took about two weeks to request the replacements. We would not have known where to begin without that sheet.

I enrolled in the annual programme after the initial audit showed some gaps in my SOCSO records from a period when I had two different employers. The review visits are convenient β€” the officer comes to the house and updates the correspondence log each time I receive something new. The scope is narrow: they don't touch anything to do with amounts or claims, and they're quite clear about that from the start. That suits me because I handle those questions through PERKESO directly.

We used the community session series for our residents association in Sitiawan. Four sessions over about six weeks. The speaker was practical β€” spent a lot of time on what EPF statements actually contain and what the different columns mean. The glossary card has been useful. About a dozen members have gone on to have individual household audits arranged through Anuvia since then. If I had to note something, the video call format for one of the sessions had a few audio drops, but the organiser summary filled in the gaps.

My father is a government retiree and his JPA pension file had not been reviewed since 2009. We found four letters that had not been filed against the correct correspondence date and two documents whose replacement window had almost closed. The referral note pointed us straight to the correct JPA branch. What I found most useful was that the walkthrough session for my sister β€” who is the nominated family member β€” covered everything on the sheet without assuming any prior knowledge.

I came to Anuvia after receiving an unsolicited phone call asking for my EPF account number. The community session I attended through my employer had covered exactly this situation β€” what personal details are and are not shared by official bodies, and what to do when a call seems suspicious. That session content probably saved me from a difficult situation. I booked the records audit for my household afterwards.

My husband passed away in 2023 and I was left managing three different pension accounts and a private scheme that neither of us had fully documented. The records audit was the right first step β€” it gave me a clear list of what existed, what was complete, and what I needed to request from which office. The referral note was specific: it named the EPF survivor enquiry unit and the private scheme's administrator contact. I handled those contacts myself, which was what I wanted to do.

Three Engagements in Detail

Case 01 β€” Household in Ipoh, Annual Programme

Retirement File Covering Four Decades of Employment

Challenge

The household held EPF records from three separate employers across thirty-seven years, plus a government pensionable-service period from the 1980s. Documents were stored in three different locations in the house. No index existed. The nominated family member β€” an adult child living in Kuala Lumpur β€” had no knowledge of what was held or where.

What Was Done

Initial audit: all documents gathered, listed, and indexed. Gaps identified for the 1986–1992 JPA service period. Referral note directed to the correct JPA records branch. Annual programme commenced: three review visits, digitisation to a written naming scheme, correspondence log created. Handover pack prepared for the Kuala Lumpur family member with a sixty-minute walkthrough by video call.

After Twelve Months

The missing 1986–1992 records were obtained from JPA within eight weeks of the referral. The family member in Kuala Lumpur could locate any document in the indexed file without contacting Anuvia or the household. Seven duplicate statements were securely destroyed; one destruction certificate was issued to the household on request.

"The handover pack meant my daughter in KL knew exactly where every document was. She didn't need to call me to ask." β€” Household participant, Ipoh

Case 02 β€” Community Group in Teluk Intan, Session Series

Employer Group Preparing for Retirement-Age Staff Turnover

Challenge

An employer in Teluk Intan had twelve staff members approaching retirement age over the next three years. HR had no structured way to help them prepare their personal documents for the process. Several staff had asked the same basic questions β€” about EPF statement formats, SOCSO contribution histories, and what letters to expect from the department β€” which HR could not answer.

What Was Done

Four ninety-minute sessions delivered at the employer's meeting room across six weeks. First session: document structures and vocabulary in official correspondence. Second: record-keeping habits and how to build a household file. Third: preparing questions before meeting a qualified adviser. Fourth: recognising unsolicited requests for personal details. Printed handouts and glossary cards produced for all attendees.

After the Series

HR reported that staff were asking more specific, better-formed questions β€” naming the correct document type and the correct authority rather than describing a situation and asking for general guidance. Six of the twelve staff arranged individual household records audits within three months of the session series concluding.

"Staff came in after session two knowing the difference between an EPF contribution statement and a withdrawal statement. That was a noticeable change." β€” HR coordinator, Teluk Intan

Case 03 β€” Household in Kampar, Records Audit

Audit Following a Change in Household Circumstances

Challenge

After the death of a spouse, the surviving family member needed to understand what retirement-related accounts and documents existed in the household's name and in the deceased's name. Three different account types were held across two individuals. No combined index existed and the family was uncertain which authority to contact first.

What Was Done

Single appointment records audit covering both individuals' documents. All existing papers listed; missing documents identified. Referral note produced with three separate entries: one for the EPF survivor inquiry unit, one for PERKESO survivor benefits, and one for the private pension scheme administrator. Each entry named the specific contact route rather than a general enquiry number.

After the Audit

The family worked through each referral sequentially over four months. The audit sheet was presented to each authority as a cover document, which reduced the number of questions each office asked about what was already held. The audit covered both individual files in a single two-hour session with the output issued the same day.

"I knew I needed to contact three different offices, but I had no idea in which order or what to ask each one. The referral note answered both questions." β€” Client, Kampar
